AceShowbiz - Fat Joe may be coming to the small screen. The rapper is reportedly developing a pilot for sitcom titled "Mi Nuevo Barrio". PageSix is the first to report the news.
The planned show is said to be about "a streetwise Puerto Rican auto mechanic from the South Bronx who moves his Dominican wife, son and mother-in-law to an upscale New Jersey suburb after coming into a large sum of money and discovers that fitting in isn't as easy as it looks."
The report further states that if the plan goes through, Joe will play the leading character on the show. Additionally, he is also set to serve as executive producer. Another source, meanwhile, spills that "Mi Nuevo Barrio" is not the only show that the Bronx rapper is developing.
Joe is no stranger to acting. He previously starred in "Night School" alongside Tiffany Haddish. He also appeared on Spike Lee's Netflix series "She's Gotta Have It".
His TV projects aside, Joe is gearing up for his long-awaited album "Family Ties" which is scheduled to be dropped anytime soon. Dre of Grammy Award-winning production duo Cool & Dre, who works on the forthcoming project together with Joe, previously said of the album, "We have an album it's called 'Family Ties' and we just released the first single off the project featuring Lil Wayne and it's called 'Pullin' '. We plan on dropping the album, hopefully, before the summer's over. Shortly after that, I'm gonna drop my solo album."
"I'm excited for 'Family Ties' and for the streets to hear it, but Cool and I are always looking... to support the new talent," he went on saying in another interview. "I love working with established artists, and we just came off of working with the Carters, but we love working with new artists because we can be a part of their start in the beginning and throughout their career. We're all keeping busy."
