Gwyneth Paltrow's Awkward Walk at 2019 Emmys Generates Internet Buzz
Celebrity

Twitter users have been talking about and making memes out of the 'Talented Mr. Ripley' star's slow walk onstage at the Sunday night, September 22 event.

AceShowbiz - Gwyneth Paltrow has become the talk of the town following her appearance at the 71st Primetime Emmy Awards, not because of her look that night but because of her awkward walk onstage. The "Shakespeare in Love" actress was on hand to present the award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series on Sunday night, September 22.

The former "Glee" star was stunning in a vintage 1963 Valentino Haute Couture gown, featuring a sheer black top and sleeves that extended into floor-length feathery appliques, with a white metallic column skirt at the event. But she apparently had a little trouble walking in that dress as the 46-year-old beauty had to slightly lift the dress while taking small steps toward the microphone.

After video of Gwyneth's walk made its round on the internet, people can't stop talking about it and creating memes out of it. One person called the Academy Award winner's walk "the best performance of the night." Another compared her slow strut to something that would come out of her lifestyle brand Goop, "The goopery that this slow walk has."

"Sorry, sorry, sorry. I need to be HONEST. This is the exact way I move when I am heading to the bathroom but I don't want anyone to know it's an EMERGENCY," another tweeted. Someone else described the walk, "Gwyneth Paltrow shuffling across the stage like she's trying not to drop the jade egg she's carrying between her legs."

"Going from my bed to my fridge wrapped up in the comforter," read another comment. Another person planned to copy Gwyneth's weird walk as saying, "Internalizing Gwyneth's slow walk for the next time some idiot tries to hold the door open for me even though I am clearly too far away."

Gwyneth came to the 2019 Emmy Awards with her husband Brad Falchuk, whose show "Pose" was nominated for Best Drama Series. The show lost the prize to "Game of Thrones", but the series' star Billy Porter won an award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. He's the first openly gay black man to be nominated and win in any lead acting category at the Primetime Emmys.

The Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series which Gwyneth presented, meanwhile, went to Jodie Comer for her portrayal of Oksana Astankova/Villanelle on "Killing Eve".
