The 'Give Your Heart a Break' songstress denies 'shading' the 'Lover' songstress after her cryptic posts about skipping the 2019 MTV VMAs were linked to Taylor.

AceShowbiz - Demi Lovato has responded after she's accused of shading Taylor Swift. The 27-year-old singer/actress clapped back at fans and social media users who overspeculated on her recent Instagram Story posts and linked them to the former-country-turned-pop superstar.

Taking to her Instagram page again, the "High School Musical" star set things straight that she didn't mean any harm to anyone with her previous posts. "Btw.. I didn't 'shade' anyone last night," she wrote on Tuesday, before explaining the reason why she skipped the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards. "My REASON for not going is because I'm literally living my dream being on Will & Grace rn so stop reaching thaaaaannnnkkssss."

On Monday night, August 26 after Taylor won the award for Video of the Year for her hit "You Need to Calm Down" at the MTV VMAs, Demi posted on her Instagram Stories, "I skipped the VMA's for a REASON." She later followed up her cryptic post with another which read, "Well that and I just hate awards shows."

Many then speculated that Demi's "REASON" to skip the show was to show her support for Scooter Braun, who recently became her manager. Scooter and Taylor have been involved in a drama after the talent manager's Ithaca Holdings acquired Scott Borchetta’s Big Machine Records and thus Taylor's back catalog.

Defending Scooter, who also represents Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande, the "Cool for the Summer" singer wrote on Instagram, "I have dealt with bad people in the industry and Scooter is not one of them." Calling the 38-year-old music executive "a good man," she declared that she is "always going to stay loyal to my team." She went on adding, "I value loyalty more than most people in this world and if my name is gonna be brought into conversations I'm gonna stand up for myself and the ones on my team."
