The fourth installment of the Disney-Pixar animated film series still tops the chart in its second weekend, while 'Spider-Man: Far From Home' already dominates international box office.

AceShowbiz - "Toy Story 4" is unshaken at North American box office despite the arrival of a new wide release, "Annabelle Comes Home", this week. The Disney-Pixar animated movie still rules the chart in its second weekend.

The fourth chapter in the hit film franchise has added an estimated $58 million to its domestic haul, bringing it to $236.9 million so far. It is currently the fourth-highest grossing movie of the year, behind "Avengers: Endgame" ($841.3 million), "Captain Marvel" ($428 million) and "Aladdin" ($305.9 million), which were all from Disney as well.

Meanwhile, "Annabelle Comes Home" debuts at No. 2 with approximately $20.4 million. It is the lowest opening weekend for "The Conjuring" film franchise. However, considering its modest $27 million budget, it's still a solid opening for the third installment in "The Conjuring" spin-off series.

"This was a reasonable movie to make," Jeff Goldstein, Warner Bros.' head of domestic distribution, said of the movie's performance. "You don't have to exceed on every one." Comparing it to another new release, "Yesterday", which opens at No. 3, he added, "The interesting part of this weekend is the counter-programming that’s out there. The fact that 'Yesterday' did so strongly and ['Annabelle Comes Home'] got to $31.2 million [since its Wednesday, June 26 release] shows the health of our business. It can be tricky to find your audience, you just have to be more strategic."

"Yesterday" is a romantic comedy film from Academy Award-winning director Danny Boyle, which imagines a world where only one man remembers the music of The Beatles and decides to present their songs as his own. It earned an estimated $17 million over the weekend, with female comprising 56% of its audiences. It received mixed reviews with an approval rating of 60% on Rotten Tomatoes, but audiences loved it and gave it an A- CinemaScore.

"We know our audience is older," commented Jim Orr, Universal's president of domestic distribution, as he remains optimistic about the movie's long run. "That group doesn't necessarily run out opening weekend. Our audience scores on PostTrak and Rotten Tomatoes are tremendous. That combined should lead us to a long, healthy run at the domestic box office."

"Aladdin" drops one spot to No. 4 with additional $9.3 million to its domestic gross after six weeks in theaters. "The Secret Life of Pets 2" holds on to the fifth place with approximately $7.1 million in its fourth weekend.

Elsewhere in the top 10, "Avengers: Endgame" climbs six spots to No. 7 following its re-release on over 1,000 screens this weekend. It added an estimated $5.5 million, bringing its domestic total to $841.3 million. Globally, it's now at $2.76 billion, inching closer to beat "Avatar" record of $2.79 billion worldwide.

Meanwhile, hope is still high on "Spider-Man: Far From Home" to make-up for the year-to-date box office deficit, which is around 9.4% lower than last year. "We've been trying to dig our way out of this deficit for it seems like forever," said Comscore senior media analyst Paul Dergarabedian. "Some of the movies that were expected to be grand slam home runs were more like triples." He added, "If Spidey can't do it, no one can."

If it's any hint of the movie's domestic run, the "Spider-Man: Homecoming" sequel is already a hit overseas, bringing in a huge $111 million this weekend after it launched in China, Japan and Hong Kong.
