Vin Diesel Shares First Video From 'Fast and Furious 9' Set as Production Begins

The actor and his co-star Michelle Rodriguez share their excitement at reprising their roles for the new installment in the video, as Nathalie Emmanuel confirms her involvement in the upcoming movie.

AceShowbiz - Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez are reunited on the set of "Fast and Furious 9" as production on the film has officially kicked off. The Dominic Toretto depicter took to his Instagram account on Monday, June 24 to share a video from the set, marking the first day of shooting.

The 51-year-old hunk is joined by his co-star and on-screen girlfriend Rodriguez in the clip as they share their excitement about returning for the new installment. "Wow, wow, wow, wow. Can you believe it, Letty? Can you believe it?" Diesel says to Rodriguez, calling her by her character's name. The actress smiles as she shakes her head. "Nine... Nine," she says.

"We just completed our first day. It feels like a miracle. One hard-earned, but it feels like we're just so grateful," Diesel says, as crew members are seen moving around in the background. He continues by expressing his gratitude as saying, "We're grateful to you, Universal. We're grateful for our whole team. Incredible crew, incredible cast, and most importantly we're so grateful to you, world, that has adopted this franchise."

"Can you believe it?" Diesel asks Rodriguez, who replies, "I can't actually." He adds, "It's so awesome. We're so blessed and we love you so much."

Jordana Brewster, who is set to reprise her role as Mia Toretto, comments with multiple heart emojis. Ludacris, who portrays Tej Parker in the franchise, leaves several film emojis. Nathalie Emmanuel, who is joining the cast in new role of hacktivist Ramsey, also comments on Diesel's post.

The "Game of Thrones" alum also took to her own Twitter page to confirm her involvement in the upcoming movie. She tweeted, "Day one of shooting Fast and Furious 9 today... The team is back together."

Also set to return for the ninth "The Fast and the Furious" movie is Tyrese Gibson as Roman Pearce, while John Cena is tapped to play the villain. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson won't return as he has his own spin-off film "Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw", which also stars Jason Statham.

Justin Lin serves as director for "Fast and Furious 9", with Daniel Casey providing the script. Universal Pictures eyes a May 22, 2020 release for the film.
