In a new interview with The Sunday Times, the 'Miss Chatelaine' singer admits that the publicity stunt about their rumored 1991 fling was something she and the 'Material Girl' hitmaker benefited from.

AceShowbiz - k.d. lang has hinted her well-publicised "romance" with Madonna was nothing more than a publicity stunt.
The Canadian singer has long been rumoured to have enjoyed a brief dalliance with the "Material Girl" star in 1991. But in an interview with The Sunday Times' magazine, lang suggested the relationship was concocted by the pair's mutual publicist in a bid to sell records.
"We shared a publicist," she explained. "Did the publicist decide to put out those rumours so they could both sell records? I don't know the entire story. Maybe."
"The lesbian chic thing was something that both Madonna and I benefited from. I didn't know it was implied we were actually doing it, but Madonna and I never did."
Madonna previously expressed her attraction towards lang, admitting she looks like Sean Penn, to whom the singer was married between 1985 and 1989.
While lang came out to her family at the age of 13, Madonna revealed during an interview with The Advocate that she had her first sexual experience with a woman when she was "seven or eight".
"All of my sexual experiences when I was young were with girls. I mean, we didn't have those sleepover parties for nothing," she told the magazine. "I think that's really normal: same-sex experimentation. You get really curious, and there's your girlfriend, and she's spending the night with you, and it happens."
