Despite having already received advance payment for June and July, Andrea Kelly is still keen to collect on the $32,000 the 'Bump n' Grind' singer owes for the previously missed child support bills.

AceShowbiz - R. Kelly's ex-wife is pushing for court officials to set a deadline for the embattled singer to settle the overdue interest he owes on back child support payments.

Last year (18), the "Bump n' Grind" hitmaker was accused of owing Andrea Kelly more than $160,000 (£124,000) to help care for their three children, and he spent three days behind bars in Chicago, Illinois in March after failing to hand over the funds by the court-appointed deadline.

He was only released from jail after an anonymous donor paid off his debt, but he risked the wrath of prosecutors again in April, after failing to keep up with two more months of child support payments.

The musician returned to court last month (May 2019), and surprised his ex by issuing her a cheque to cover his debts for March, April, and May, and at another hearing days later, Andrea received another lump sum as advance payment for June and July.

However, Andrea is still keen to collect on the $32,000 (£25,000) he owes in interest for the previously missed child support bills, and is now asking the judge overseeing the case to set a new deadline.

In legal papers obtained by TMZ, she argues Kelly is unlikely ever to hand over the interest if he isn't made to do so by authorities.

Kelly's representatives are aware of the motion, but have yet to comment on the news.

It's not the only legal headache the singer is facing - he was also hit with 11 new sex crime charges last week, ends May 31, relating to an alleged 2010 incident with a minor, and was arraigned in court on Thursday, June 06, when he pleaded not guilty.

Kelly has also denied 10 separate counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse involving four victims, three of whom were underage at the time of the alleged encounters.
