AceShowbiz - "The Big Bang Theory" producers have another present for fans ahead of the show's finale. CBS has just announced a special titled "Unraveling the Mystery: A Big Bang Farewell" that is set to arrive on Thursday, May 16 on the network.
The 30-minute special will air at 9:30 P.M., following the hour-long series finale that will air at 8 P.M. Stars Johnny Galecki and Kaley Cuoco will serve as the hosts of the special, which will take viewers behind the scenes of the comedy that will wrap its 12-season run as TV's longest-running multicamera comedy series.
Additionally, "Unraveling the Mystery: A Big Bang Farewell" will feature backstage secrets, personal memories, interviews and a tour of the iconic set. Galecki and Cuoco will also reveal their favorite moments playing Leonard and Penny, and revisit some of the most memorable stories from "The Big Bang Theory" stage.
"You're not going to not know it's coming! We will support it heavily and celebrate it. It's been 12 amazing years and hundreds of millions of viewers," CBS president Kelly Kahl said in January of his network's plans for the show's final season. "It's been a special show for me and everybody at CBS. These kinds of shows don't come along that often. We want to give it the proper respect it deserves on its way into the sunset."
"The Big Bang Theory" debuted in 2007. It has received 52 Emmy nominations throughout its run and won 10 of them. The multi-cam series also earned 7 Golden Globe nominations. Also starring on the series are Jim Parsons, Simon Helberg, Kunal Nayyar, Mayim Bialik and Melissa Rauch".
Following the script-reading session ahead of filming the episode, Cuoco warned fans of the seemingly heartbreaking episode. "Prepare yourselves ... for a finale that has truly given me a loss for words. Our whole universe ....," she wrote on Instagram alongside a picture of a load of screwed-up tissues that she had used to mop up her tears.
