First-look footage of the upcoming animated movie re-introduces the creepy, supernatural family and their odd behaviors, while including 'It' and 'Battleship' jokes.

AceShowbiz - "The Addams Family" is back in the new teaser trailer for the upcoming animated movie. Courtesy of MGM, the video introduces the new iteration of the famous creepy, supernatural family without revealing the storyline.

The trailer opens with comparisons to ordinary American families to highlight how different and unusual the Addams family is. The family patriarch, Gomez Addams (Oscar Isaac), and his wife Morticia (Charlize Theron) get "hideous" and "horrible" welcome at a haunted house, but still lovingly call it "home."

The video also features the couple's kids, Wednesday (Chloe Moretz) and Pugsley (Finn Wolfhard), their butler Lurch and Uncle Fester (Nick Kroll). The family's members are then seen doing their odd activities, such as Gomez having his head tightened, Wednesday being told to "kick" her father goodnight and Lurch playing the piano with multiple hands.

The trailer additionally makes subtle references to other popular works, including "It" and "Battleship". At one point, Wednesday brings a red balloon. While the girl is not sure what the thing that she has, her mother comments, "Strange...there's usually a murderous clown attached to the other end of these," referring to Pennywise.

At the end of trailer, Gomez is instructing his son Pugsley to set off an explosion that causes a bathtub and Uncle Fester to fall through the ceiling. "You sunk my battleship!" a naked Uncle Fester complains to his nephew who celebrates the success of his prank.

The official logline of the movie reads, "Get ready to snap your fingers! The Addams Family is back on the big screen in the first animated comedy about the kookiest family on the block. Funny, outlandish, and completely iconic, the Addams Family redefines what it means to be a good neighbor."

Also featuring Bette Midler as Grandmama, Allison Janney as Margaux Needler, Elsie Fisher as Parker Needler, and Aimee Garcia as Denise, the movie will see the Addams family facing off against a crafty reality-TV host while also preparing for their extended family to arrive for a major celebration, Addams-style. It is directed by Conrad Vernon and Greg Tiernan from the script provided by Matt Lieberman.

Following the release of the teaser trailer, fans have taken to Twitter to share their reactions. Many were disappointed with the portrayal of Gomez Addams, who despite having the good-looking Dameron voicing the character, isn't as suave as the live-action version in the 1991 movie.

"Pardon my French, but Gomez Addams was always the suavest motherf**ker on the planet. You get Oscar Isaac and this is the way you go?" one tweeted.

Another wrote, "I wish the new Addams Family movie was live action just so we could SEE Oscar Isaac as Gomez Addams."

Someone else echoed the sentiment, "I just don't get why it couldnt be live action. I wanna see Oscar Isaac with mustache and everything."

Another disappointed fan posted, "casting oscar isaac as gomez and then not making it live action was one thing but ffs the least they could’ve done was make him a hot cartoon."

The new animated "The Addams Family" movie is heading into U.S. theaters on October 11, just in time for Halloween.
