Nas quickly rose to fame after his debut single, "Old Town Road", was used as the background music for the viral YeeHaw challenge on TikTok. It also caused controversy after it was removed from Hot Country Songs chart after Billboard decided that the song wasn't embracing "enough elements of today's country music."
Despite the removal, "Old Town Road" continued to do well on other charts and even topped Billboard's Hot 100 chart, making him the first solo artist whose debut single ruled the weekly chart since Cardi B's did the same with "Bodak Yellow" in October 2017. He has since released a remix featuring Billy Ray Cyrus, with another remix featuring country trap innovator, Young Thug, coming soon.
