The 'Smash' alum throws shade at her former competitor while reminding everyone to register to vote for the upcoming midterm elections.

AceShowbiz - Twelve years has passed, but Katharine McPhee couldn't seem to get over her loss to Taylor Hicks on "American Idol" in 2006. The 34-year-old singer/actress just threw an epic shade at the season 5 winner and her former competitor in her tweet.

On Tuesday, August 28, the "Scorpion" star took to Twitter to remind everyone to register to vote for the upcoming midterm elections. She stressed the importance of voting by posting a throwback photo of herself and Taylor on "Idol" stage and writing along with it, "voting matters register here #midterms2018."

"American Idol" fans may still remember that Taylor won season 5 of the singing competition show, while Katharine was the runner-up. The diss came as a shock as it suggested that she thinks she should have won but not enough people voted for her.

Katharine is clearly at a better state of life now, personally and professionally, despite losing the "American Idol" title. Her debut studio album "Katharine McPhee" opened at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. She's also known for her role as Karen Cartwright on NBC's musical drama series "Smash" and starred on CBS' recently-canceled action drama series "Scorpion".

She just finished an impressive run of the Broadway musical "Waitress" in which she took the lead female role of Jenna Hunterson for four months.

Last June, the "Had It All" songstress was engaged to be married to 68-year-old record producer David Foster. While details of her wedding plans are not available yet, it will be a second marriage for her following her divorce from Nick Cokas. She was married to Nick from 2008 until their split in 2014. Their divorce was finalized in 2016.
