AceShowbiz - Chrissy Teigen's recent Instagram post has sparked backlash among social media users. The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue model took to the photo-sharing platform to share a picture of her posing with Shania Twain.
The picture in question was taken on the set of "Lip Sync Battle". Chrissy had her arm around the singer as she matching black dress and top hat. Shania also put one arm on the model, smiling to the camera. "Presenting the legend, @shaniatwain!!" Chrissy captioned the snap.
Fans were livid at the picture because it featured a "Trump supporter." One follower wrote, "Don't need to elevate Trump supporters in a time like this." Another added, "Sorry, Chrissy. That don't impress me much." There was also a fan who said, "I think it's very strange Chrissy is even as excited as she is. Standing next to a trump supporter."
Others posted similar comments such as, "Pass on any trump humper," "She's a Trump supporter PASS" and "Shanis LOVES Trump. No thanks." Meanwhile, Chrissy has yet to respond to the backlash.
Shania landed in a hot water earlier this year after she said in an interview that she would have for Donald Trump if she was an American. "I would have voted for him because, even though he was offensive, he seemed honest," she said. "Do you want straight or polite?" she argued. "Not that you shouldn't be able to have both. If I were voting, I just don't want bulls**t. I would have voted for a feeling that it was transparent. And politics has a reputation of not being that, right?"
After receiving a strong backlash from social media users, the "From This Moment" hitmaker took to her Twitter account to apologize for her controversial comment. "I would like to apologize to anybody I have offended in a recent interview with the Guardian relating to the American Presiden. The question caught me off guard. As a Canadian, I regret answering this unexpected question without giving my response more context," she said in a series of tweets.
