The actor tells Stephen Colbert that the diary helped him get into character because 'there was a lot of dark stuff.'

AceShowbiz - Michael B. Jordan really got into character as "Black Panther" villain Erik Killmonger by writing a journal as his bad guy character. The actor created his own back story before he started work on the Marvel blockbuster and continued his scribblings throughout the movie.

"I write journals for every character that I have, from the earliest memory up until the first page of the script," he told Stephen Colbert. "For me, it just kind of gives you context. His (Killmonger's) was particularly dark. It was a very sad journal, not having his mom growing up, (being) in and out of the system (in) foster care, foster homes and what not... There was a lot of dark stuff."

He added, "It was deep and allowed me to go to that place right before a scene. It allowed me to lock in."
