The 65-year-old producer has filed a lawsuit against Carmel Musgrove's family members, claiming his former assistant caused her own death.

AceShowbiz - Movie mogul Joel Silver has accused his former personal assistant of causing her own death. Carmel Musgrove's family members have accused the "Lethal Weapon" producer of being responsible for the 28 year old's death during a 2015 vacation in Bora Bora with Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux, and now he's firing back with legal papers.

According to the documents obtained by The Blast, Silver maintains Musgrove didn't exercise "ordinary care" for herself, insisting no one is to blame for her death but herself. Her body was discovered floating in a lagoon near the Four Seasons hotel.

In his legal papers, Silver also claims the family cannot seek damages against him personally because Musgrove's death occurred on a work trip.

Musgrove's family sued Silver, his production company and his personal chef Martin Herrold. The family claimed they were responsible for her death after allegedly facilitating her with drugs and alcohol during Aniston and Theroux's honeymoon celebration. They also accused Silver of overworking his assistant.

Local authorities determined Musgrove drowned due to an over-consumption of alcohol and cocaine, plus fatigue and heat stroke.
