The 'Narcos' star will once again work with director Patty Jenkins after previously teaming up in TV movie 'Exposed'.

AceShowbiz - Director Patty Jenkins has hired Pedro Pascal for a key role in "Wonder Woman 2", Variety reports. It will be the second time for him to work with the director after previously teaming up in TV movie "Exposed".

In "Wonder Woman 2", he will star alongside "Saturday Night Live" alum Kristen Wiig. Kristen was cast as main antagonist Cheetah in the sequel of 2017's hit movie starring Gal Gadot.

Pedro is known for portraying the role of Oberyn Martell on "Game of Thrones" and Javier Pena on "Narcos". Pedro will next be seen on wide screen this July in "The Equalizer 2". He will also be seen in "If Beale Street Could Talk" that will be released sometime this year. He is currently filming "Triple Frontier", which is set to be released sometime in 2019 .

Details of the sequel of "Wonder Woman" are kept under wraps. A rumor suggests that the movie will take place during the Cold War in the 1980s, but it has not been confirmed yet. However, director, producer and writer Patty said that the movie would be "totally different" from the previous film.

She said, "We're actually making a totally different film with a lot of the same, similar like things that we love, but it's own movie completely, so it's not 'two' to us. It's an entirely new adventure together that we couldn't be luckier [to do]." Along with Patty, there are also Dave Callaham and Geoff Johns who work on the screenplay.

The 2017 hit movie's sequel is currently on course and will begin the production this summer. The studio has dated the movie for a November 1, 2019 release in the U.S.

DC's Cinematic Universe' "Wonder Woman" earned a domestic gross of $38.7 million on its opening day at 4,165 theaters, including $3.7 million in IMAX. It earned a total of $412.6 million from the United States and Canada theaters. Meanwhile, it grossed a total of $821.9 million worldwide, against a production budget of $149 million. It also bested some of its fellow superhero films in 2017.
