AceShowbiz - The winners of the 2018 Writers Guild Awards had been announced on Sunday, February 11 in ceremonies held simultaneously in Los Angeles and New York City. "The Handmaid's Tale", which previously won best TV drama at the 2018 Golden Globes, continued its success by nabbing the trophy of best drama series at the award-winning event.
Meanwhile, fellow HBO series "Veep" was announced as the winner of the category Comedy Series. Starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus, the political comedy bested "Silicon Valley", "Master of None", "GLOW" and "Curb Your Enthusiasm".
In addition to winning the best TV drama series, "The Handmaid's Tale" bagged the trophy of New Series category. The Elisabeth Moss-starring series beat "American Vandal", "The Deuce", "GLOW" and "Ozark".
A "BoJack Horseman" episode titled "Time's Arrow" won the award of Animation. Episodic Drama winner was an episode called "Chicanery" from AMC's "Better Call Saul", with "Rosario's Quinceanera" from NBC's "Will & Grace" being the winner of Episodic Comedy category.
Also among the winners were "Flint" and "Big Little Lies". "Flint" walked away with a trophy of Long Form Original category. Meanwhile, Emmy-winning series "Big Little Lies" won Long Form Adapted category.
Comedy/Variety Specials found its winner at the 39th Annual Kennedy Center Honors. The category of Quiz and Audience Participation named NBC's "Hollywood Game Night" as the winner. Meanwhile, ABC's "General Hospital" snagged the trophy of Daytime Drama category.
