The former wrestler, who plays a U.S. war veteran in the action thriller, does high-wire stunts that tower over the 'Mission: Impossible' star's dangling from the Burj Khalifa in 'Ghost Protocol'.

AceShowbiz - The first full trailer for "Skyscraper" starring Dwayne Johnson a.k.a. The Rock has arrived, just hours after its teaser was released during the Super Bowl LII broadcast on Sunday, February 4. Debuting on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon", the trailer kicks off with an explosive scene which explains how Johnson's character lost his left foot.

Johnson plays Will Ford, a former FBI Hostage Rescue Team leader who, after a severe foot injury, becomes a "glorified security guard" at The Pearl. It's a building in Hong Kong which he dubs "the tallest, most advanced building in the world... a vertical city" with "every single safety and security challenge" at 244 floors.

Elsewhere in the trailer, terrorists can be seen targeting the building, and chaos ensues. The approximately two-and-a-half-minute video shows Ford doing everything he can, including jumping off the said building, in an attempt to save his family who is trapped in it. As seen in the trailer, for the action sequences, Johnson does high-wire stunts that tower over Tom Cruise's dangling from the Burj Khalifa in "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol".

"Skyscraper" is directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber, the filmmaker behind "We're the Millers", from a script he wrote. Aside from writing and directing, Thurber, alongside its star Johnson, serves as producer with Beau Flynn. Universal Pictures has set the action thriller to be released in theaters across the nation on July 13 this year.

Global icon Johnson leads the cast of Legendary's "Skyscraper" as former FBI Hostage Rescue Team leader and US war veteran Will Ford, who now assesses security for skyscrapers. On assignment in China he finds the tallest, safest building in the world suddenly ablaze, and he's been framed for it. A wanted man on the run, Will must find those responsible, clear his name and somehow rescue his family who is trapped inside the building...above the fire line.

Starring alongside Johnson in the upcoming movie are Neve Campbell, Pablo Schreiber, Chin Han, Byron Mann, Hannah Quinlivan, Noah Taylor and Roland Moller among others. UFC veteran-turned-actor/stuntman Jason William Day has also joined the cast, taking on a villainous role.
