AceShowbiz - Comedian Steve Brown just had the most terrifying on-stage experience as a disgruntled man charged the stage and attacked him during his recent gig at the Comedy House in Columbia, South Carolina. The brutal incident was caught on tape by an audience member.
In the clip, a man could be seen jumping on the stage and throwing punches at Brown. The fight then escalated when the man grabbed Brown's microphone stand and proceeded to hit the comedian with it. Brown's arm was hit by the stand even though he tried to dodge it. The said man then picked up a stool and threw it to him. Before he could cause further damage, crew members interceded and escorted the man off the stage.
Fortunately for Brown, he was able to escape the attack with minor injury. He took to Instagram to address the incident and let his followers know that he was okay. He also explained that comedy clubs should now be fully equipped with ample security to prevent such incidents from happening again. He also thanked his fans, friends and family for their support.
First off let me start by saying Thanks for the calls and messages from friends, fans and my family. With that being said, let me say this. This unprovoked attacked that happened to me tonight is a reminder of why these comedy clubs should have well equipped PROFESSIONAL security to protect us entertainers who bring their club so much money. I thank God for looking out for me and giving my old ass the ability to Bob and weave because this could have ended in horrible way.
Brown also shared on the photo-sharing platform a picture of his injury. He captioned it, "Them mic stands are a b***h. In the future im gonna start pulling mic stands on these niccas..."
According to TMZ, cops learned that the man is named Marvin and determined that he had been drinking at the club. In addition to Brown, it was reported that four people at the venue were injured as a result of the attack and wanted to press charges. One of the victims was a security guard who said that Marvin punched him in the face before hopping in a car and fleeing.
Marvin reportedly caused $400 damages, ranging from breaking the mic stand to shattering dishes and glasses.
