Alicia Vikander's character sets off on a deadly adventure as she's determined to reveal secrets about her father.

AceShowbiz - The highly-anticipated new trailer for "Tomb Raider" is finally here for fans' viewing pleasure. The video reveals more of the legacy left behind by Lara Croft's (Alicia Vikander) father, years after his mysterious death.

As Lara finds a video containing her father's last message, she sets off on a dangerous adventure to fulfill his last wish. Joined by a reluctant companion, the ship captain Lu Ren (Daniel Wu), Lara faces off Mathias Vogel (Walton Goggins) who seems to know more about Lara's father. "Seven years I've been on this island," he says. "Your father, he put me here."

The last one of minute of the trailer is loaded with tons of action scenes as she tries to save the world from a global genocide. Set to Destiny's Child's "Survivor", the scenes show her hanging onto plane wreckage, dodging the bullets, shooting arrows and fighting in the woods.

Lara Croft, the fiercely independent daughter of a missing adventurer, must push herself beyond her limits when she finds herself on the island where her father disappeared. Now a young woman of 21 without any real focus or purpose, Lara navigates the chaotic streets of trendy East London as a bike courier, barely making the rent. Determined to forge her own path, she refuses to take the reins of her father's global empire just as staunchly as she rejects the idea that he's truly gone. Advised to face the facts and move forward after seven years without him, even Lara can't understand what drives her to finally solve the puzzle of his mysterious death.

Leaving everything she knows behind, Lara goes in search of her dad's last-known destination: a fabled tomb on a mythical island that might be somewhere off the coast of Japan. But her mission will not be an easy one; just reaching the island will be extremely treacherous. Suddenly, the stakes couldn't be higher for Lara, who-against the odds and armed with only her sharp mind, blind faith and inherently stubborn spirit-must learn to push herself beyond her limits as she journeys into the unknown. If she survives this perilous adventure, it could be the making of her, earning her the name tomb raider.

The film also stars Dominic West as Lord Richard Croft, Lara's deceased archaeologist father. Roar Uthaug serves behind the lens with the script provided by Geneva Robertson-Dworet. The action fantasy flick is set to open in U.S. theaters on March 16.
