AceShowbiz - It's Michael B. Jordan vs. Florian Munteanu a.k.a. Big Nasty in "Creed 2"! According to a new report from The Tracking Board, the Romanian boxer has been cast in the follow-up to the 2015 sports drama as the son of Dolph Lundgren's Ivan Drago who will take on Jordan's Adonis Creed in the ring.
Confirming Munteanu's casting, Sylvester Stallone, who is returning as Rocky Balboa in the "Creed" sequel, has just taken to his Instagram account to say, "Congratulations to Florian 'Big Nasty' Munteanu for getting the part as IVAN DRAGOS son! 27 years old , 6 feet four, 245 pounds of talent.#mgm #creed #creed2," along with a photo of the boxer.
Production on the sequel is expected to kick off this coming spring for a November 21 U.S. release. Steven Caple Jr. has recently been tapped to direct the movie with an original screenplay co-written by Stallone and Cheo Hodari Coker, showrunner of "Luke Cage", based on characters from the "Rocky" film franchise. The next "Rocky" movie will focus on Adonis Creed as he continues his quest to become a champion, as well as his personal life outside the ring.
Besides Jordan and Stallone, Lundgren is returning as Ivan Drago, the man who killed Apollo Creed, while Tessa Thompson is reprising her role as Bianca. Ryan Coogler, who directed "Creed", is expected to join in an executive producer role, though a deal hasn't closed just yet as he is currently wrapping-up post-production on Marvel's "Black Panther".
Stallone previously teased on Instagram the possibility of Brock Lesnar joining the "Rocky"-verse. Sharing a very interesting photo of him and Lesnar, the 71-year-old actor/filmmaker wrote in the caption, "Big challenges come in all shapes and forms! By the way this is just for entertainment, Drago's son will be played by a new unknown…#brocklesnar #rockybalboa1976."
