AceShowbiz - Former child actor Jon Paul Steuer has passed away at the age of 33. The actor/musician, who rose to fame after playing Alexander Rozhenko on "Star Trek: The Next Generation", died on Monday, January 1, but it was only announced on Thursday on the Facebook pages of his band P.R.O.B.L.E.M.S., and his Portland vegan restaurant, Harvest at the Bindery.
"It is with heavy hearts and saddened minds that we announce the passing of our dear friend and singer Jonny Jewels, AKA Jon Paul Steuer," read the post on the band's official account. "The addition of Jonny to our dysfunctional band family was one of the best choices that we have ever made, and he brought a much needed sense of fun and lightheartedness to everything we did."
"He was only with us for a little more than a year, but we managed to cram a lifetime of great experiences into his tenure as our singer: dozens shows at home in Portland and across several states, an amazing European tour, and our best full-length release yet," the group continued. "We've lost our singer, but far, far more than that we've lost a friend. Rest in peace, Jonny...we love you. Jon Paul Steuer March 27, 1984 - January 1, 2018."
The cause of death has not been revealed. He is survived by his parents, Paula and Tom.
After the sad news broke, an official Twitter page for "Star Trek Online" posted a tribute which read, "Rest in Peace, Jon Paul Steuer, the first actor to play Alexander in TNG. You will be deeply missed."

Steuer is best known for becoming the first actor to play Alexander Rozhenko before the likes of Brian Bonsall, Jon Paul Steuer, Marc Worden and James Sloyan played the Klingon weapons officers in different versions of the franchise. He also had a role as Quentin Kelly on ABC's show "Grace Under Fire" and portrayed Johnny "Viper" Vennaro in the 1994 children's comedy film "Little Giants".
Steuer began his career as a musician in 2003 when he formed the glam punk band Kill City Thrillers, which later changed its name to Soda Pop Kids. He performed as lead singer for the band under the name Jonny P. Jewels. The band dissolved in November 2009. Since last year, he performed with P.R.O.B.L.E.M.S.
In March 2015, Steuer partnered with chef Sean Sigmon to open Harvest at the Bindery, a vegan restaurant located in Portland. Upon his death, the restaurant reportedly closed down permanently.
