The 'Pacific Rim' sequel introduces a new generation of Jaeger pilots and has a robot vs. robot fight in addition to a robot vs. Kaiju war.

AceShowbiz - "Pacific Rim Uprising" debuts first trailer for viewing pleasure. It sees Jaegers fighting Jaegers in addition to the robots facing off Kaijus. Amid the chaos, John Boyega who plays the son of Idris Elba's ill-fated character from the first film rises up as the leader among the new Jaeger pilots.
"We were born into a world at war," he says, "between the monsters that destroyed our cities, and the monsters we created to stop them. We thought we had sacrificed enough. But the war we though we finished is just beginning, and the only thing standing in front of the apocalypse is us."
He leads his fellow pilots played by the likes of Scott Eastwood and Rinko Kikuchi into war. "It doesn't matter where you came from, who believed in you and who didn't. This is our time, this is our chance to make a difference. Now let's get it done," he exclaims.
A sequel to a 2013 movie directed by Guillermo del Toro, "Pacific Rim Uprising" is directed by Steven S. DeKnight. The original director serves as as one of the producers. Kikuchi, Charlie Day and Burn Gorman are among the returning cast members.
Charlie Hunnam, the lead actor in the original movie, won't return for the upcoming sequel but the new movie will pay homage to Gypsy Danger, the Jaeger once piloted by his character. His successor is called Gypsy Avenger with Boyega's character as the pilot.
The second movie is set to make its way across the country on March 23, 2018. It takes place ten years after the events in the first film. The Jaeger program has since evolved into the most powerful global defense force in human history. This apparently leads into a friction. Can they put aside their differences to defend humanity against a new Kaiju threat that appears from the restless oceans?
