Previously, his co-star Gillian Anderson tweeted another behind-the-scenes photo featuring her, Duchovny, writer/director Morgan as well as actor Brian Huskey. According to Deadline, Huskey will be making a guest appearance, playing a character named Reggie.

"The X-Files" has been renewed for a 10-episode season 11 by FOX. It's expected to premiere sometime in 2018. Besides the two main actors, Robbie Amell and Lauren Ambrose are set to reprise their roles as FBI Special Agents Miller and Einstein respectively. The characters were first introduced in the tenth season which aired in 2016.

Additionally, Oscar-nominated actress Barbara Hershey has reportedly been cast in a recurring role of Erika Price, a powerful figure who represents a mysterious organization.

Fox entertainment chairman David Madden promised that the upcoming season would ditch its wildly complex mythology episodes. "We're really proud of last season," he said at the Television Critics Association summer press tour. "We had the responsibility to explain to the audience what had happened in the intervening seven or eight years. We're free from that responsibility this time and can just plunge in and tell the stories. We're having a lot of fun doing it. Eight of the episodes will be stand-alone stories so they will be classic 'Mulder and Scully plunging into new adventures.' "
