Is Kim Kardashian Heading to 'American Idol' as Judge?

Returning host Ryan Seacrest thinks that adding the 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians' star to the judge panel will be 'a game-changer.'

AceShowbiz - While ABC is struggling to lock down a second, third and even possible fourth judge for its revival of "American Idol", it appears that returning host Ryan Seacrest has a perfect solution. The radio personality thinks they should hire his friend, Kim Kardashian, for the gig, joining previously announced judge Katy Perry.

"While producers have been looking at Lionel Richie, Luke Bryan, Keith Urban and other people within the music business, Ryan thinks the show should hire Kim," says a source to Naughty Gossip. "Promotion and social media are now just as important to being a successful artist as singing and no one knows that world better than his pal Kim."

Ryan is aware that idea may not sit well with most of people since the "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" star "doesn't have experience with music." However, he notes that Heidi Klum is just the same but the model is doing fine on NBC's "America's Got Talent".

"At least Kim is from the USA and she certainly knows how to make great TV," the source continues. The "Live with Kelly and Ryan" co-host and "KUWTK" producer is allegedly "worried that if they just follow the format of the old show, that it will feel dated. Adding Kim will be a game-changer."

It seems like ABC is not in the position to be picky. Just recently, Keith hinted that he wouldn't be returning for the new season of "American Idol". "I think it's going to be all new people except for Ryan," said the 49-year-old Australian musician, who accompanied wife Nicole Kidman at the event for the opening of her film "The Upside" at the TIFF on Friday, September 8.

In addition, rumor has it that the Alphabet and Lionel's team had not reached an agreement in terms of salary. The singer's team was said to ask for around $10 million, which is a double from initial price that ABC offered.

The clock is ticking and ABC doesn't have much time left as auditions in front of the judges is slated to start at the end of September. "American Idol" reboot will arrive sometime in 2018 on ABC.
