Warner Brothers is reportedly courting Martin Scorsese as a producer in an attempt to bring the 'Wolf of the Wall Street' actor into the DC Extended Universe.

AceShowbiz - Warner Brothers is reportedly trying to bring Leonardo DiCaprio into DC Extended Universe. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio is eyeing the Oscar winner to play The Joker in the upcoming movie that will explore the origin story of the Batman supervillain.

WB is allegedly trying to convince Martin Scorsese to get "The Revenant" actor on board with the upcoming movie. However, no offer has been made to the "Django Unchained" star since Scorsese's deal to produce the project is not even done yet.

Scorsese and DiCaprio are frequent collaborators. They teamed up in "The Aviator", "Gangs of New York", "The Departed", "Shutter Island" and "The Wolf of Wall Street".

Jared Leto who originally plays the Clown Prince of Crime in the DCEU reportedly has heard of the rumors and he's not happy. The 30 Seconds to Mars frontman contacted his agents at CAA about his displeasure. Due to the friction, the rocker/actor is now reportedly courted by rival agency WME.

Todd Phillips and Scott Silver are hired to write treatment for the DC criminal mastermind notorious for his face paint and permanent smile. Others details are still scarce. Rumor has it, the movie could revolve around a young bullied version of the infamous character.

MMA fighter Brendan Schaub who is friends with Phillips' agent Todd Feldman recently let it slip in an interview, "My boy Todd Feldman put this together with Todd Phillips. It's dark. It's like a dark Joker. As a kid, he had a permanent smile and everyone made fun of him. It's like on the streets of Brooklyn. It's super dark and real."

According to online theories, the story in the Joker origin movie might continue with another movie that will delve into the mad love between the psychopathic clown and his former psychiatrist Harley Quinn that ends up with their breakup. The untitled Joker and Harley Quinn project is speculated to pave a way for Harley Quinn's solo outing with Gotham City Sirens. Margot Robbie plays the pigtailed antihero in the DCEU, and her relationship with The Joker has already been glimpsed in "Suicide Squad".
