Derek Peth and Taylor Nolan are reportedly taking their relationship to the next level. The couple started dating on the current season of "Bachelor in Paradise". They reportedly got engaged on Wednesday, August 30.
According to a scoop from Us Weekly, Derek popped the big question during the taping of the aftershow. "Derek and Taylor got engaged last night," a source said. "No one knew Derek was going to propose. He gave her a Neil Lane ring."
Derek Peth is a commercial banker from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He competed for JoJo Fletcher's love on "The Bachelorette" season 12. Meanwhile, Taylor Nolan is a mental health counselor from Seattle, WA. She previously vied for Nick Viall's affection on "The Bachelor" season 21.
During the most recent episode of "Bachelor in Paradise" airing August 29, Derek and Taylor got into an argument. "F**k you," he told her. "That really hurts me and that is like, a big trigger point for me," she cried. "The way we communicate is very important to me." She later suggested that their relationship was over, "If he tries to give me a rose, like... I can't. However, after talking it out, they quickly made up.
This fourth season of "Bachelor in Paradise" kicked off with controversy following sex scandal involving Corinne Olympios from "The Bachelor" season 21 and DeMario Jackson from "The Bachelorette" season 13. Their drunken sexual escapades led to sexual assault allegations, prompting the show to get temporarily shut down.
"I know I'm not that monster they're trying to portray on TV. They wanted the angry black guy and this little, innocent white girl. But it wasn't," Jackson told Chris Harrison in a TV interview. He got emotional when talking about his family's reaction to the scandal, "It's tough. It's difficult. I love my mom more than anything in this world. Seeing her cry every single day, it was difficult. I'm her everything, best friends. I had to make her deactivate [social media], because she was going to war defending me. It sucked."
In a separate sit-down with the host, Olympios also got teary as she said, "It's just really hard, and I hope that he's doing better. I really just want people to know that I don't blame DeMario. I never pointed fingers at DeMario. I never said a bad word about DeMario."
They recently reunited in Los Angeles.
