The 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales' actor will play the leader of DC young soon-to-be superheroes that include Starfire and Raven.

AceShowbiz - "Titans" has found its leader in Brenton Thwaites. The "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" actor is signed on to play Dick Grayson, the leader of young soon-to-be superheroes that come from every corner of the DC Universe.

Grayson is most known as Batman's sidekick, Robin. He was taken under Bruce Wayne's wing after his parents were murdered. After years of fighting crime with The Dark Knight, he comes out of the caped crusader's shadow and forms his own new family, the Titans.

"Dick Grayson is one of the most important and iconic heroes in the DC Universe, and it wasn't easy to find him but we have. Brenton has the emotional depth, heart, danger and physical presence of Batman's former protege and the Titans' future leader. We're extremely lucky he's chosen to bring his talents to this project and this character," producer Geoff Johns said in a statement.

The live-action "Titans" series along with an animated series "Young Justice: Outsiders" will be released as a part of a DC-branded digital service which will be launched in 2018. DC Entertainment teams up with Warner Brothers TV to branch out into the digital world.

Greg Berlanti, the mastermind behind numerous DC shows like "Arrow", "The Flash", "DC's Legends of Tomorrow" and "Supergirl", will shepherd the project. Brenton Thwaites will be joined by Anna Diop as Starfire and Teagan Croft as Raven.

Beast Boy is rumored to join the superhero team as well. "Yes!! Very happy to be writing the Titans again and working with this crew! Extremely excited. Will be something very different... #BeastBoy," Berlanti previously teased on Twitter.

The new DC show was originally developed for TNT, but it was eventually abandoned by the network. It hasn't got a release date, but it is expected to kick off production in September in Atlanta, Georgia.
