The filmmaker behind the 2016 R-rated superhero film is reportedly set to helm the big-screen adaptation of William Gibson's 1984 sci-fi novel.

AceShowbiz - Fox's upcoming "Neuromancer" movie has found its helmer in Tim Miller. Deadline is the first to report the news, stating that the filmmaker behind 2016's "Deadpool" will serve behind the lens for the big-screen adaptation of William Gibson's 1984 sci-fi novel.

Miller will develop the project with "X-Men" film franchise producer Simon Kinberg. The site reports that Kinberg, who is currently taking on the helming duty of "X-Men: Dark Phoenix", is on board to produce the film adaptation of the classic cyberpunk novel.

The studio is currently looking for a screenwriter to adapt the novel that has drawn the interest of several filmmakers in the past. The logline reads, "Case was one of the best console cowboys until he stole from one of his employers, who in turn damaged his nervous system so that he cannot access cyberspace anymore. Broke and destroying himself, Case is contacted by Molly, a heavily modified razorgirl, to work for a shadowy colonel who needs a cyberspace cowboy for a secret mission."

"The employer fixes Case's damaged brain, but implants a slow dissolving poison to make sure the cyberspace wiz does his bidding, in attempting to abduct a perverse psychopath who is able to create holograms with the force of his mind."

This is the second project that Miller has set at Fox, as he's also developing an adaptation of sci-fi novel "Influx". After dropping out of "Deadpool 2", Miller signed on to executive produce Sony Pictures' upcoming live-action/CG-animated hybrid "Sonic the Hedgehog" movie. Additionally, it was reported earlier this year that he was eyed to helm James Cameron's "Terminator" reboot.
