AceShowbiz - Nam Joo Hyuk is very good looking, but it doesn't mean that fans won't notice his lack of acting skills. The model-turned-actor has been receiving a lot of backlash regarding his acting, particularly on his currently-airing drama, "Bride of the Water God".
A fan lists all the dramas Joo Hyuk has starred on over the past three years, which include his debut drama "Mermaid Princess", "Who Are You: School 2015", "Glamorous Temptation", "Cheese in the Trap", "Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo", "Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo" and "Bride of the Water God". Out of seven dramas, he played the male leading role on four of them although he always ended up getting criticized for delivering a bad acting.
Other fans seem to agree that Joo Hyuk isn't a good actor, but still manages to get cast due to his look. "It's because he's an eye candy... And it's not like he's bad to the point I can't focus on the plot," a commenter writes. Another explains, "I noticed him on 'Who Are You' and his pronunciation is the problem, also he can't control his facial expressions, I just can't get immersed in the plot."
However, some others think that the boyfriend of Lee Sung Kyung can deliver a better performance on lighter dramas. "I think Nam Joohyuk would suit dramas that are more daily life? He would never gotten into any controversies if he only acted in dramas like 'CiTT' or 'Weighlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo'," one of them comments. "Seriously he has his good acting days and bad acting days... But one thing is that acting isn't his talent, most idols can pull off the daily life roles as well as he does," another adds.
Meanwhile, Joo Hyuk is set to make his big screen debut with a star-studded historical movie, "Ansi Fortress", alongside Seolhyun of AOA.
