Details of "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" are unwrapped in a cover of Vanity Fair's new edition. A series of images from the movie offer a first look at Benicio Del Toro as DJ, a "shady character of unclear allegiances," and a glimpse at Laura Dern as Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo. There is also a picture of Gwendoline Christie's Captain Phasma without her mask.

Other images show Daisy Ridley's Rey with her mentor Mark Hamill's Luke Skywalker, Carrie Fisher's General Leia Organa with daughter Billie Lourd's Lieutenant Kaydel Connix, John Boyega's Finn with his new sidekick Kelly Marie Tran's Rose Tico, and Adam Driver's Kylo Ren who bears scar from his battle with Rey in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens".

On top that, fans are given a sneak peek at the glitzy casino city named Canto Bight which becomes "a playground, basically, for rich a**holes" in the Galaxy Far Far Away. According to director Rian Johnson, Finn and Rose will pay a visit to the Canto Bight which is described as "a Star Wars Monte Carlo-type environment, a little James Bond-ish, a little To Catch a Thief."

Meanwhile, Oscar Isaac who plays X-wing fighter pilot Poe Dameron teases a scene with Carrie Fisher. "We did this scene where Carrie has to slap me," he says. "I think we did 27 takes in all, and Carrie leaned into it every time, man. She loved hitting me. Rian found such a wonderful way of working with her, and I think she really relished it."

Another tidbit is that Poe will have a female protege. He is coaching Rose's sister, a gunner named Paige who is played by Vietnamese actress named Veronica Ngo.

"The Last Jedi" also stars Lupita Nyong'o, Domhnall Gleeson and Andy Serkis. The movie is coming out December 15 in the U.S.
