2017 MTV Movie and TV Awards opened with a tale as old as time on Sunday, May 7 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. Host Adam DeVine spoofed "Beauty and the Beast (2017)" to kick off the event, along with Josh Gad as well as "Pitch Perfect" stars Hailee Steinfeld and Rebel Wilson.

The first part of the video sees DeVine in Beast costume. He and Gad were carried by four white-wigged men with Wolverine-like claws attached on their hands. "I need a Belle!" said DeVine. Steinfeld soon replied from the audience's seats, "I'm in!" She revealed Belle's traditional yellow gown beneath her purple coat. As Steinfeld ran to the stage, Emma Watson responded by showing an adorably wide smile and giving Steinfeld an applause.

Wilson later popped up on the stage as Mrs. Potts and started singing the parodied version of "Beauty and the Beast" main theme. "Tale as old as time/ music number starts the show/ I wanted to look hot/ I'm wearing the tea pot/ Man this really blows," sang Wilson. Her fellows followed with hilarious dances and singing.

"Beauty and the Beast" won an award for Movie of the Year at the event, while Watson nabbed an award for Best Actor in a Movie. The musical has grossed over $1.1 billion worldwide.
