Adele turned 29 on May 5 and she had a unique way to mark it. The British songstress took to her social media accounts to share photos of her transforming into an old lady as she thanked her fans for their well wishes on her birthday.
The "Hello" hitmaker sported frizzy gray hair and more wrinkles than usual. She donned a pink cardigan and spectacles in one of the pics. "Nearly 30! Thanks for the well wishes. See you soon x," she captioned it.
Adele was channeling Catherine Tate's character, Joannie "Nan" Taylor, from "The Catherine Tate Show" in the photos. Nan is a grandmother who constantly swears at and criticizes other people, including her neighbors and loved ones. Adele has several times been compared to Nan because of her signature booming laugh and accent.
It's unclear if Adele underwent the makeover just for fun or it was for a music project. Her fans embraced it anyway, with one commenting on the post, "THANK YOU FOR SLAYED US AGAIN BABE HAPPY BIRTHDAY I LOVE YOU SO MUCH."
