AceShowbiz - The CW's "Black Lightning" rounds out the casting for its key roles. Nafessa Williams ("Code Black") and China Anne McClain ("House of Payne") are announced to star as DC female superheroes Thunder and Lightning respectively.
They join "Hart of Dixie" alum Cress Williams who is cast as the titular hero or known as Jefferson Pierce. He is forced to come out of his retirement as a vigilante due to a daughter hell-bent on justice and a star student being recruited by a local gang.
Thunder is the alter ego of Annisa, Pierce's oldest daughter. She is passionate and quick-witted, balances the demands of medical school with her job teaching part-time at her father's school. Lightning is the alter ego of the younger Jennifer, who becomes involved with a criminal gang.
Greg Berlanti, the producer of various DC TV series like "Arrow", "The Flash", "Supergirl" and "DC's Legends of Tomorrow", is shepherding the show. It is expected to be the first black superhero series on traditional television.
