'Aliens' Actor Bill Paxton Dies at 61, Celebs Pay Tribute on Twitter

Soon after the news of the legendary actor's death breaks, many celebrities take to Twitter to share their deepest condolences.

AceShowbiz - Actor Bill Paxton, who has been famously known for his roles in "Aliens", "Titanic" and "Twister", died at the age of 61 on Sunday, February 26. The cause of Paxton's death was listed as "complications from surgery."

"It is with heavy hearts we share the news that Bill Paxton has passed away due to complications from surgery," Paxton's family said in a statement. "A loving husband and father, Bill began his career in Hollywood working on films in the art department and went on to have an illustrious career spanning four decades as a beloved and prolific actor and filmmaker. Bill's passion for the arts was felt by all who knew him, and his warmth and tireless energy were undeniable."

HBO, who worked with Paxton on the award-winning 2006 TV series "Big Love, also released a statement to show their empathy. "We are extremely saddened to hear of the passing of Bill Paxton," the statement read. " 'Big Love' was a seminal series for HBO for many years due to Bill's extraordinary talent and grace. Off screen, he was as warm, smart and fun as one could be. A true friend to so many at HBO. He will be greatly missed."

Soon after the news of Paxton's death broke, many celebrities flooded Twitter with messages to express their condolences and to pay tribute to the late actor. Tom Hanks, Jamie Lee Curtis, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Paul Feig, Charlize Theron, Elijah Wood and Aaron Paul were among the celebrities who paid homage to Paxton via the social microblogging site.

Hanks wrote, "Bill Paxton was, simply, a wonderful man. A wonderful man... Hanx," while Curtis posted a picture of Paxton from the movie "True Lies" along with a tweet which read, "Nooooo. Bill Paxton is gone. Such a funny, talented, loving human. Louise & the children & family my love & support 2 u. #truelies."

Schwarzenegger paid his tribute by praising Paxton's acting skill as he wrote, "Bill Paxton could play any role, but he was best at being Bill - a great human being with a huge heart. My thoughts are with his family." Feig expressed his sadness by recalling a time when he first met Paxton, "So sad about the passing of Bill Paxton. In film school, we went to the set of Weird Science & he was so nice to us. Such a wonderful guy."

Theron wrote, "You were a great friend to me, Bill. AND one of the finest actors to share a set with. Sending so much love to Bill Paxton's family." And Wood exposed Paxton's good personality by tweeting, "What a lovely, warm and kind human. So sad to hear of Bill Paxton's passing." Paul also sent his condolences by writing, "Bill Paxton was hands down one of the greatest guys that I have ever met. I feel lucky to have called him my friend. Bill, I love you. RIP."

Paxton was born on May 17, 1955, in Fort Worth. He started his acting career at the age of 17 by making his own film with his friends before moving to Los Angeles in 1973 and starting to work for famous director James Cameron as a staff in Cameron's art department. Paxton later made his big-screen debut as an actor in 1975 through Jonathan Demme-directed movie, "Crazy Mama".
