Should the deal be closed, Newton will star alongside Alden Ehrenreich, Woody Harrelson, Donald Grover and Emilia Clarke in the 'Star Wars' spin-off.

AceShowbiz - "Westworld" star Thandie Newton may be added into the growing cast list of Han Solo movie. Variety reports that the 44-year-old actress is now in negotiations to join the untitled stand-alone Star Wars film II.

Recently, "Fleabag" actress Phoebe Waller-Bridge was also eyed to join the movie. Should the deal be closed, Waller-Bridge will play a key character. Woody Harrelson, meanwhile, has confirmed that he will play a mentor in the movie centering on Han Solo.

Newton is known for her role as renegade robot Maeve on the critically-acclaimed HBO series "Westworld". The TV series earned her two Screen Actor Guild Awards nominations and a Golden Globe nomination. This year, Newton will appear in an untitled Nash Edgerton project. Newton is currently filming "The Death and Life of John F. Donovan", in which she stars opposite Kit Harington, Natalie Portman, Jessica Chastain and Bella Thorne.

The Han Solo standalone movie will focus on the event before "Star Wars: A New Hope", the same as blockbuster "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story". While plot details haven't been announced yet, it may focus on how Han Solo becomes a smuggler we know. The character was magnificently portrayed by Harrison Ford in the original "Star Wars" movies and "Star Wars: The Force Awakens". Alden Ehrenreich is on board to play younger Han Solo.

The Han Solo movie is scheduled to be released in 2018. Also starring alongside Ehrenreich and Harrelson in the film are Donald Glover as Han Solo's friend Lando Calrissian and Emilia Clarke.
