Mischa Barton is back home after being hospitalized for mental evaluation earlier this week. The 31-year-old actress has revealed that prior to hospitalization, she was drugged with GBH, date rape drug, while celebrating her birthday with a group of friend on Wednesday night, January 25, leading to her disturbing behavior.
Sources previously said that Barton was spotted hanging over the backyard fence of her home in West Hollywood, California on Thursday morning, allegedly rambling about her mother being a witch, the state of the world and "Ziggy Stardust." She was later "voluntarily" transported to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
In a statement obtained by PEOPLE, the "Dancing with the Stars" alum opens up about her drink being drugged during her birthday celebration. "On the evening of the 25th, I went out with a group of friends to celebrate my birthday," she recalls. "While having drinks, I realized that something was not right as my behavior was becoming erratic and continued to intensify over the next several hours."
"I voluntarily went to get professional help, and I was informed by their staff that I had been given GHB," she reveals, before confirming that she's home and doing well "after an overnight stay." "The O.C." actress also thanks "the professionals at Cedars Sinai for their great care and professionalism," adding, "This is a lesson to all young women out there, be aware of your surroundings."
