Taylor Swift wants her $25 million Beverly Hills home declared a landmark. The "Shake It Off" hitmaker has been working hard restoring the former family estate of iconic Hollywood producer Samuel Goldwyn to its original 1934 condition.

According to Mansion Global, Taylor has gotten a seal of approval by the Beverly Hills Cultural Heritage Commision. On Wednesday, January 11, five members of the organization voted enthusiastically in favor of the "Blank Space" singer's request to turn her new digs, which includes six bedrooms and five bathrooms on a 10,982-square-foot property, into a local landmark.

The Beverly Hills City Council will vote to finalize the historic designation at an upcoming, still-unscheduled ruling, but Taylor's win with the Heritage Commission is considered a major first step.

Noah Furie, vice chair of the Heritage Commission, during the Wednesday meeting, "This is one of the great estates in this city, and it's very important to the history of the city. And I'm thrilled that whoever the owner is, they've found it important to keep this house and spend the money to restore it because it's no small thing to do."

While it was not disclosed how much Taylor is spending on the restoration of the Goldwyn house, the construction has been underway for over a year, according to her architect Monique Schenk.

"Really when this project's done, hopefully this year sometime soon, it’s going to be really spectacular," Monique said during the meeting, "We've preserved and maintained a lot of the elements and those that were deteriorating, we've replicated."

One commission member wanted to make Taylor the local poster child of historic preservation. "It would be wonderful to have some kind of press conference or event for people in the city," suggested commissioner Lisa Greer, "Landmarking is a pain in the neck and, you know, that it's nothing but trouble."

A representative for Taylor hasn't responded to a request for comment.
