A new trailer for Oscar-buzzy movie "Hidden Figures" has been released by 20th Century Fox. It sees Taraji P. Henson as Katherine G. Johnson, a brilliant African-American mathematician who works at NASA and is behind one of the greatest operations in America's history.

The trailer opens with Johnson who, along with Octavia Spencer's Dorothy Vaughan and Janelle Monae's Mary Jackson, is pulled over by a police officer. "NASA. I had no idea they hired...," the cop says while looking at her working ID card, before Vaughan interrupts, "There are quite a few women... working in the space program."

The over-two-minute video also features the trio battling for equality in their workplace. "How could you be ogling these white men?" Johnson asks Jackson after they are introduced to Glenn (Glen Powell), the astronaut they will help launch into orbit. The latter responds, "This is equal rights. I have the right to see fine in every color."

"Hidden Figures" is based on Margot Lee Shetterly's non-fiction book of the same. It centers on the untold story of three African-American women who provide NASA with important mathematical data needed to launch the program's first successful space missions, the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit in 1962.

Directed by Theodore Melfi from a script she co-wrote with Allison Schroeder, the movie is set for a January 13, 2017 release in U.S. theaters. It's supported by Kirsten Dunst, Kevin Costner, Mahershalalhashbaz Ali, Jim Parsons and Aldis Hodge.
