Dakota Fanning's parents are separating after 27 years of marriage. Steven Fanning, father of the "War of the Worlds" actress, has filed for divorce from his wife Heather Joy, citing irreconcilable differences.

Child support wouldn't be an issue for Steven and Heather as Dakota and her sister Elle Fanning are both of age. As for the spousal support, according to TMZ, Steven didn't check any boxes asking for support from his wife. He allegedly still needs to figure out how he and Heather are going to split their property.

Neither Dakota nor Elle has commented on the issue yet. Dakota has been busy promoting her new movie "American Pastoral" on Instagram, while Elle's last posting was about Halloween.

Dakota shared photo of her parents a few months ago. She posted a photo of her and her dad on his birthday in June and a throwback snap of her mom in August.
