The actor learned of his 'Ocean's Thirteen' co-star Brad Pitt's divorce from Angelina Jolie from a CNN reporter who asked him to comment on the heartbreaking news.

AceShowbiz - George Clooney was as shocked as the rest of the world was when finding out about Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's divorce. Despite being a very close friend of both actors', he apparently didn't know anything about the split until a CNN reporter asked him to give his opinions.
During the Leaders Summit for Refugees at the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Tuesday, September 20, the reporter approached Clooney and asked him, "Alright, don't shoot me on this last question but you're friends with both of them. Any thoughts?"
"What's that? What's happened?" the actor said while the reporter continued, "You're friends with both of them, your thoughts, she's a humanitarian." When he finally realized that they were talking about Pitt and Jolie's divorce, Clooney admitted that it was the first time he'd heard of it.
"I didn't know that," he revealed. "I feel very sorry then. That's a sad story and unfortunate for a family. It's an unfortunate story about a family. I feel very sorry to hear that. That's the first I've heard of it."
Jolie, who recently celebrated her and Pitt's second wedding anniversary, filed for divorce from him on Monday, September 19. Confirming the split in a statement, her rep said, "This decision was made for the health of the family. She will not be commenting at this time and asks that the family be given their privacy during this difficult time."
A previous report claimed that the couple's different parenting styles were what caused the breakup. She's said to be worrying about the kids because of his consumption of weed and possibly alcohol, and mixed with what she believes is "an anger problem."
