Another DC superhero is coming to television, Deadline has learned. Greg Berlanti, the producer of various DC TV series like "Arrow", "The Flash", "Supergirl" and "DC's Legends of Tomorrow") is now working on a new show revolving around Black Lightning. It's currently being shopped around to networks.

The script is written by husband-and-wife duo Salim Akil and Mara Brock Akil ("The Game", "Being Mary Jane"). "Black Lightning" follows Marvel's Netflix series "Luke Cage" as black superheroes getting their own shows on small screen, but the former will be the first on traditional TV.

The story centers on Jefferson Pierce. He initially hung up the suit and his secret identity years ago, but with a daughter hell-bent on justice and a star student being recruited by a local gang, he'll be pulled back into the fight as the wanted vigilante and DC legend Black Lightning.
