Harry Potter's story is over with "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" stage play and book. At the two-part play's premiere which took place Saturday, July 30 in London's West End, author J.K. Rowling confirmed that the play which depicts the titular character as an adult marked the end of Potter's journey in the Harry Potter universe.

Asked if fans could expect a new phase of stories, the author told Reuters, "No, no." She later appeared on stage during the show. "[Harry] goes on a very big journey during these two plays and then, yeah, I think we're done. This is the next generation, you know," she said. "So, I'm thrilled to see it realized so beautifully but, no, Harry is done now."

Rowling also revealed she had no intention to continue the book series after her final novel "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows". "[The play] chimed perfectly with the material I had about the next generation and I could see it would work perfectly," Rowling explained. "So, I never wanted to write another novel, but this will give the fans something special."

Released on Monday, July 31, "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" became the eighth story set in the Harry Potter universe. The story took place nineteen years after the events of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows". "The Cursed Child" centers on the 37-year-old Potter (Jamie Parker), who is an employee at Ministry of Magic, and his younger son Albus Severus Potter (Sam Clemmett).

Meanwhile, "Harry Potter" spin-off "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" starring Eddie Redmayne will hit U.S. theaters on November 18. It's neither a prequel nor a sequel to the Harry Potter series, but an extension of the wizarding world. It's inspired by Harry Potter's Hogwarts textbook of the same name, and will feature the book's fictitious author, Newt Scamander. The laws and customs of the hidden magical society will be familiar to the fans of "Harry Potter", but Newt's story will start in New York, seventy years before Harry's gets underway.
