'Suicide Squad' Director Addresses Joker Fan Theory
Movie

David Ayer responds to speculation that Jared Leto's Joker is a former sidekick gone bad.

"Suicide Squad" director David Ayer has debunked a major fan theory about Jared Leto's Joker. Fans have been speculating that the famous villain in the movie is actually Batman's former sidekick Jason Todd, a.k.a. the second Robin.

Speaking to WSVN-TV's Chris Van Vliet, Ayer said, "It ain't the case! He's not!" while pointing at the camera. He went on stressing that Leto's Joker was not a former sidekick gone bad and not connected to Jason Todd, who is better known to comic book fans as the second Robin and later as the Red Hood.

In the interview, Ayer also addressed rumors that the film underwent extensive reshoots to increase the humor content. He said, "I don't think you can do that. It's like, what, you got a scene where they're all cracking jokes and then you're back in the old scene? It doesn't work like that. The movie was always funny."

As the film is coming closer to its release date, Leto has shared on Instagram a new picture of him in full make-up as Joker. The image shows how suave Joker looks in his costume with a white flower pinned in his tuxedo.
