Producer Dana Brunetti assures fans that 'everyone working on location in the south of France is okay' after an attacker drove a truck into a crowd watching Bastille Day fireworks.

AceShowbiz - A shocking attack took place on late Thursday, July 14 in France, where "Fifty Shades Freed" has been filmed. An attacker drove a heavy truck at high speed into a crowd watching Bastille Day fireworks in the French Riviera city of Nice, killing up to 80 people and injuring scores.

Thankfully, none of the cast and crew of the second sequel to "Fifty Shades of Grey" became victims in the attack. They were filming on a location about 40 minutes outside of Nice and had wrapped production for the day before the attack took place.

Producer Dana Brunetti has taken to Facebook to assure fans that everyone is okay. "From production: 'Production has confirmed that everyone working on location in the south of France is okay. Everyone has been accounted for and is safe and sound.' Thanks for everyone's messages and concerns. Another sad day for France and the world," she wrote.

Sources say the cast, including Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan, and director James Foley have not been staying in Nice though they have been filming in the French Riviera. On Monday, the on-screen pair were spotted filming a honeymoon scene on a pebbled bay in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat.

The male attacker, who is not identified yet, drove the 25-tonne, unmarked, truck into the crowd and opened fire before police shot him dead. Weapons and grenades were found after the driver was killed. An eyewitness told Nice Matin newspaper, "The driver had made up his mind, he was going to crash. The van drove onto the pavement. It passed two metre away from us. I saw people lying down I saw a small child on the ground."
