'Bigger girls do better in comedy,' the Australian actress says while discussing her weight issue in a new interview.

AceShowbiz - Unlike most of Hollywood's famous figures, Rebel Wilson doesn't feel the need to lose weight in order to survive in the industry. While opening up about her body issues in an interview with the U.K.'s Daily Telegraph, the "Pitch Perfect 2" actress revealed that she intentionally piled on the pounds to make herself a bigger star.

Wilson first recalled a time when she wrote her first play and cast herself alongside a girl with a larger frame. "And I was like, 'Oh. That girl's getting a lot of laughs, a lot easier than me. What is it?' Because I don't think there's much difference in talent. And I remember distinctly thinking, 'I think it's because she's fatter,' " she said.

"And then, I don't know if it was mega-conscious, but I thought, 'How can I get more laughs? Maybe if I was a bit fatter...' And then suddenly I was fatter, and doing comedy," she continued. "I saw my size as being an advantage, whereas so many women see it as a disadvantage. Bigger girls do better in comedy."

The Australia native, who stars as Fat Amy in 2012's "Pitch Perfect" and its 2015 sequel, also told the publication that she has a hormonal imbalance that makes it easier for her to gain weight quickly. The condition also makes it easier for her to shed the pounds if she wants to.

"Oh yeah! I'll take six months off, and just do a total transformation," she said. "But then, so many people go, 'Don't you do it!' But I think, 'Why not?' "
