Beyonce Knowles' outfit wasn't the only thing people talked about when she hit the red carpet of the 2016 Met Gala Monday evening, May 2. The singer also left them wondering if there's really trouble in paradise as she showed up at the event alone.
That night marked Bey's first red carpet appearance since releasing "Lemonade", her latest album featuring the song "Sorry" that highlights her husband Jay-Z's alleged infidelity. Hov's absence only fueled speculations that their marriage's falling apart.
Turns out, the rapper chose not to go to the ball because he didn't want his cheating rumors to overshadow his wife's appearance, according to HollywoodLife.com. "Jay Z opted to let Beyonce attend the Met Gala on her own. He wanted her to have a night that was solely dedicated to her, fashion and what the ball is all about," a source said.
"He felt like he could better support her by staying out of the limelight, and avoid any possible 'Becky' drama. He wanted to let the light just shine on her, and let her soak it up," the source added.
Beyonce looked stunning at the 2016 Met Gala which took place in New York City's Metropolitan Museum of Art. Sporting long hair, she flaunted her curves in a nude-colored latex dress by Givenchy and teamed it up with a matching rectangular clutch. At the party, she reunited with her sister Solange Knowles who donned a bright yellow outfit paired with latex stockings of the same color.
