AceShowbiz - Jennifer Hudson isn't the only one mourning the death of Prince, but she sure has one of the best ways to honor the late musician. After the Thursday night, April 21 performance of the Broadway musical "The Color Purple", the "American Idol" alum joined her co-stars to pay tribute to the Purple One by performing a cover of his iconic hit, "Purple Rain".

Hudson introduced the performance, saying in front of the crowd, "Not too long ago, [Prince] called me while we were here and asked me to come out to this event because he was writing his book and he told me you can bring your cast members along. We were honored to be in his presence one last time and we got to have that moment."

"He said his music will live on and he will live through his music so we want to keep him alive today with this song," she continued before beginning the track. The singer led the breathtaking 5-minute performance along with co-star Cynthia Erivo while the other cast members provided backing vocals.

Alicia Keys is another star who has paid musical tribute to Prince, who died at the age of 57 on Thursday morning. She did a soulful cover of the legendary singer's classic piano ballad "How Come U Don't Call Me" from her 2001 debut album when she attended the Tribeca Film Ferstival.

"There was nobody like him before, and there's not going to be anybody like him after," Keys told the crowd after finishing the song. She additionally took the stage to showcase new music from her upcoming album.
