Kesha's Complaints Against Dr. Luke Denied by N.Y. Judge

Besides noting that the alleged incidents occurred outside the court's jurisdiction, the judge said the 'Tik Tok' hitmaker's arguments were baseless.

AceShowbiz - Singer Ke$ha is fighting a losing battle. On Wednesday, April 6, a judge in New York has dismissed her hate-crime and human-rights complaints against longtime producer Dr. Luke, denying the singer opportunity to be released from her recording contract with Sony Music Entertainment.

Kesha appealed the decision made in February that prevented her from cutting her contract short. She alleged that Dr. Luke sexually, emotionally and physically abused her during their decade old relationship. The producer has denied all allegations.

Manhattan state Supreme Court Justice Shirley Werner Kornreich noted that Kesha had "failed to plead that any of the alleged discrimination occurred in New York State or City," adding that the case was outside the statute of limitations.

Kesha argued that she was a victim of hate-crime. To that Kornreich said, "Although [Luke's] alleged actions were directed to Kesha, who is female, [her claims] do no allege that [Luke] harbored animus toward women or was motivated by gender animus when he allegedly behaved violently toward Kesha."

According to The AP, Kornreich also wrote, "Her claims of insults about her value as an artist, her looks and her weight are insufficient to constitute extreme, outrageous conduct intolerable in a civilized society. Every rape is not a gender-motivated hate crime."

Of Kesha's claim that she was a slave to Dr. Luke, the judge said that Sony did not push her to work with just one producer. Therefore, her rejection to work with other producers was deemed unreasonable.

Kesha and her legal team are yet to respond to the ruling.
