The recently-crowned "The Voice" season 9 winner Jordan Smith has another reason to celebrate. On Friday, January 1 night, the 22-year-old singer announced that he was engaged to his longtime girlfriend Kristen Denny after three years of dating.

"RINGING in the new year with my future wife!" Smith shared to his Twitter followers. "She said YES! #Mr&MrsSmith." The picture accompanying the announcement shows Denny wearing the bling. She wrote on Facebook, "2016...You're definitely my favorite #Engaged #Mr&MrsSmith."

Smith had often credited Denny for supporting his career and dreams. "It's so full circle," Smith told PEOPLE after winning the NBC show last month. "She's so happy for me and she knows this is exactly what I've dreamed about." He added, "[Denny has] been through it all with me and has been such a big support and foundation. To have her with me was so special."

Smith said Denny was a singer herself. She, along with his parents, accompanied Smith when he did the blind audition.
