"Marvel's Iron Fist" is the next comic book adaptation that is in the works at Netflix. Following the great responses received by "Daredevil" and "Marvel's Jessica Jones", the streaming giant is moving forward with its next project by announcing a showrunner for "Iron Fist" and its synopsis.
Scott Buck, who served as showrunner for the final seasons of "Dexter" and wrote several episodes of the Showtime series, will shepherd the upcoming series. Buck is also known for his work on "Six Feet Under" and "Rome".
"Scott came in with a take on Iron Fist that quite simply knocked us off our feet," says Executive Producer/Head of Marvel Television, Jeph Loeb. "We always look for the most creative minds in the field to help us bring our heroes to life, and with Scott we've found someone that can deliver yet another great series in the ongoing story of The Defenders."
Buck also reveals what drew him to the project. "I've always been drawn to writing complex, intriguing characters," he says, "and that's what most excites me about the opportunity to bring Danny Rand and Iron Fist to life with Marvel on Netflix."
No cast is announced for "Iron Fist". The official series description reads, "Returning to New York City after being missing for years, Daniel Rand fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his incredible kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist."
Netflix has not set a premiere date for "Iron Fist". The streaming service will first release the new season of "Daredevil" and premiere new series "Luke Cage" before debuting "Iron Fist".
